Just In: Berghaus Long Sleeve Tech Tee Zip
I‘ve been buying Berghaus base layers for a long while now, they’ve always offered great value for money, excellent performance and come in an array of retina burning colours. I was gutted when they stopped producing my favourite versions, the ones with X-static silver fabric in, as they were brilliant for multi day trips as the silver stopped them getting stinky.
So when Go Outdoors asked if I’d like to try one of the new base layers, I speedily took them up on their offer and ordered the aptly named Blaze Red.
The new tops are made from Berghaus’ new Argentium Tech T fabric which sounds very similar to the old X-static fabric, using silver-ion technology to keep sweat and smells at bay as well as offering permanent UV protection. Although it feels slightly different to both the old Tech T fabric and X-static fabric, it still feels soft and the seems look well stitched and pretty flat.
The top comes in active fit (like this one) or a more relaxed fit, both come in sizes from x-small to XX-Large and it also comes in 5 different colours, unfortunately they’ve stopped the wicked luminous green/yellow and my personal favourite the bright orange.
The fit is pretty good for me, the sleeves seem just the right length and the thumb loops will come in handy for keeping the top in place, the chest zip is a good length so should offer plenty of ventilation when things get hot.
I’ve got a walk planned for the weekend so I will most certainly be wearing this then (along with my favourite smoulder hoody, if the weather forecast is to be believed) and will report back (with some proper photos as the ones I took earlier were rubbish) after that, but I’ve certainly got high hopes for it.
You can buy one from here for £29.99 they also do a thermal version which looks quite handy for the winter if you get cold easily or are going somewhere sub zero.
