#ourc2c day 5 patterdale to shap.

T

They day started with a lovely breakfast at our b&b along with a chat to our fellow guests who were also doing the coast to coast, one couple doing it in 16 days the other in 12.

It also turns out the lady who ran the b&b was originally from the same
Place as us.

We set off and headed for the shop to get some supplies for the day before climbing the long familiar path to angle tarn, although it was here we got a little complacent and ended up overshooting the path, entirely my fault.

I was hoping to catch sight of the gden eagle between here and kidsty pike but unfortunately our luck was out, we did however see a herd of deer so that almost made up for it.

Once past the tarn we climbed the knott followed by the ascent up to kidsty pike!

After a short stop for some lunch and to take in the views we started the short sharp descent to the shores of haweswater, we opted for the slightly more direct and scrambly route but it was well worth it.

The long trudge along the side of a still
Not Full Haweswater was made all the more pleasurable
By the bright sunshine, giving the journey an almost Greek holiday feel.

Once we reached the end of the reservoir it wasn't long before we bumped into a few familiar faces and after a quick chat we headed for shap abbey followed by the long walk to our accommodation for the night. the greyhound inn, where we spent new year, as it happens in the same room.

I would tell you about how lovely tea was and how great the company was but I've had a few beers and need my bed!

So that's day 5 done and it wasn't as bad as we thought....
