Self Employment

For those of you that read the blog on a regular basis will have noticed that my posts have dropped off since the end of January.

The main reason for this was I was unfortunately made redundant so spent most of February searching for a job, going to interviews and wondering what I was going to do next. It’s not the first time I’ve been made redundant, the first time was just about 5 years ago and at the time we’d just got our first mortgage on our first house. Luckily I found a job pretty quickly and haven’t looked back, until now.

This time the redundancy came even more out of the blue and at possibly an even worse time as in November we decided to get married…in April. As with most things, there’s not much you can do in these situations, just take a deep breath, work out where you are and what do do next.

After going to a few interviews, a few trips down to the Job Centre and a lot of soul searching, I decided to try and take control of my own destiny and set up a new company with a couple of the guys were also made redundant with me.

As a result the last week has been rather more hectic in most, trying to sort out a name, branding and all of the other bits that go with starting your own business. We’ve still got an awful lot to do but I think we are getting there. We’ve won our first few clients and looking for some more.

Hey Moggy, hope it all works out. Being self-employed can be the most worrying, stressful and frustrating thing you ever do. A bit like having kids really.

But, like children, it can also be the most rewarding thing you ever have in your whole life.
